back to atlantic city... for more shopping
so it's back to atlantic city for another round of shopping for me. bought more pants and a t shirt from Aeropostle this time. getting there this time was a hell. with delays and buses not turning up, my initial plan of reaching there at 12.30 ended up with me finally getting there at 2.30. and since i wanted to be back by 7pm to catch Deal or No Deal (it's a really great game show to win USD1 000 000), i had to be on the bus by 5. which did not leave me with much time to shop.
it sure was pretty foggy here at atlantic city and much colder than philadelphia. which was definitely great weather for me.
that's the banana republic outlet store where i bought many of the of t shirts shown in the previous post. went there again today to get a couple more of their t shirts :D
just some random shot of the outlets. didnt really take much photos this time as my hands were full with all the bags. but i guess you pretty much know what to expect at this factory outlet experience.
well the next post will contain all the things that i bought today as well as the prices. will take orders as well then. enjoy!
the great memorial day weekend sale
so i termed this the memorial day weekend sale to show you what yours truly bought over the weekend while on my short getaway. prices will be included and orders will be taken at the end of this post.
to start it off, this is the tshirt i bought at battery park where i was suppose to visit the statue of liberty. but, and i must stress BUT, i would suggest you do not buy these shirts at the park itself but at downtown. i got these at the park for USD5 but downtown, it cost between USD2-3, depending on which vendor you got it from.
and now to the factory outlet shopping.this one is from banana republic. Price: USD5.99
another banana republic t shirt. buy one get one free. so effectively this one cost USD 7.99 a piece.
found this at the clearance rack at banana republic going for USD3.99
part of those buy 1 get 1 free at banana republic. USD7.99
wanted to get as many t shirts in as many colours as possible so went on to get another 2 pieces of t shirts at those 1 for 1 at banana republic. USD7.99
and here's the the half of the 1 for 1 deal from banana republic. USD7.99. man at that price for a banana republic t shirt, it sure feels good.
from banana republic, we moved on to GAP. for those of you who don't know, GAP and banana republic are under the same parent company. just that one is mid-priced and the latter, higher end. this was under a 2 for USD15 promotion. thus USD7.50 for the one above, inclusive of tax.
here's the other t shirt to make the 2 for USD15 promotion. make this USD7.50 too.
and now for the steal of the day. this aeropostle tshirt cost USD1.79 inclusive of tax. no i aint kidding you. there was a 70% sale there. WOW!!!!
with prices like that at Aeropostle, i'm definitely going back to get more. was too bagged down with all the things we bought on that day that i couldnt possibly make any more purchases. anybody wanna order with me? we can work out a payment plan :D
and now for more photos... this time of atlantic city new jersey
so after new york, i decided to head on down to new jersey. more speecifically, atlantic city in new jersey. for those of you who don't know, this place is like a mini las vegas with casinos everywhere, including those owned by Trump. however, i have yet to see a strip showhere, thus the reason for labelin it mini.
that's a funnel cake that which is something like fried dough and icing on top. its really good and i think it originated from new jersey.
just to give you guys an idea of the view from outside the casino side that faces the beach. there sure was a lot of people but that's because it was the memorial day long weekend holiday.
everywhere you turn and look, there will always be loads of people.
no this is not disneyland but atlantic city. i dunno why the owners of that casino wanted to dress up their place like that. to attract minors to gamble maybe?
what's a casino region without a ceasars? remember ceasar's palace in las vegas? well this one is smaller (i guess) and its pretty fancy inside as well.
one of the many forms of advertisements you see at atlantic city: the plane with the banner at the back.
no that's not lalang or rice that's growing there.
that cafe belongs to Trump and its a bar and grill.
this is about as far as i went to the beach as i did not want to get sand in my shoes. well gotta keep in mind that my plan for that day was just explore the place and not to go to the beach.
and now with a different background. this time with the casinos as my backdrop.
ah the rainforest cafe. really nice place with a rainforest themed eatery. there's a mock thunderstorm that happens every 30 mins with sounds of thunders and animal noises for realism.
lunch was a quick affair with pizzas. cost USD1.79. but wait till you see how big it is. like 3 of my hands placed end to end. this is the first time i got full on just a slice of pizza.
finally we reach the (factory) outlets for shopping. initially i wasn't too keen as my eyes were acting, but wait till you see what i bought (that would come up in another post
some of the outlets that you can find here.
liz clairborne, izod, vanes hussen, banana republic just to name a few.
loads of people here at the factory outlets too. gamble, win money, come to factory outlets, spend the money. great plan if you ask me.

a map of the factory outlets located at atlantic city. just for reference when i do come back.
and thus ends my trip at atlantic city for the day. came back really happy with the things that i bought at banana republic, gap and aeropostle. shall take photos of those and post it tomorrow. till then, hope you enjoy this post.
the photos at new york
finally finished uploading the photos of my new york trip. its even longer than the italian festival market photoshoot posted last week. sorry bout the delay and enjoy the photos.
on the bus on the way to new york. on my right, the river that separates pennsylvania and new jersey.
and on my left, the stadium where the philadelphia baseball team plays.
this is the line of people who were lining up to get a ticket to visit the ellis island where the statue of liberty is located.
this is me joining the line. moments later, an announcement was made that there were no more time passes to be issued for the day. time passes are required if you want to enter and go to the top of the statue of liberty. they were still selling tickets though to go to the island for those who wanted to get closer to the island. but the 1.5 hour wait just to get on the island, plus the fact that is was already 2pm then and the island closed at 5pm, i decided to come back another time to explore that place and statue.
so off i went to take photos of the park / ferry terminal. the park is commonly known as battery park and is located at the southern tip of manhattan which is one of the 5 islands making up new york and also the place where a lot of monuments such as the financial district is found.
the park is located ust on the perimeter of the financial district which provides for this beautiful backdrop. i hear that donald trump owns at least one of these buildings but wasnt too sure which one as i couldn't see his name on any of them from where i was.
the statue which i will have to say so long for now but dun miss me too much, i'll be back.
beautiful girl. beautiful background. the perfect picture.
my turn to get in on the picture. cant say the effects were the same though :P
you know a girl loves flowers when she wants to make sure the picture she's in has flowers in the backdrop.
another photo of your truly in front of walls with names of fallen US soldiers.
just bcecause i wasnt goin to get on the boat to explore ellis island for that day doesnt mean i couldnt get close to the statue right?

now who says America and Arabs cant live in peace?
one of the many ships that offered tours around the ellis island but not stoppin on the island itself. not worth in my opinion as i wanted to get on the island and into and on top of the statue. that last part didnt sound right though.
even at 3pm, there was still a long line of people lining up for tickets to get onto ellis island. didn't they hear the announcement that there were no more time passes issued?
inside castle clinton (i aint kidding, check the sign) is where the tickets to ellis island / time passes to the statue of liberty were issued.
there were many such stalls selling everything from t-shirts to caps with the words NY on it. note to those going there: you can actually get the items much cheaper in the city centre itself. like half price cheaper.
one of several monuments that were found in the park.
guess what that hut in the middle is. a toilet? that's what i thought so too. but its just an empty hut.
i wasn't kidding when i said the park was big. and really nice too.
picture of the wall with the names on the wall. this time, without me in front of it. pretty good photoshopping skills eh?
i want one of those. wonder how much it would cost here in the US?
the last time i saw a ship that was this crowded was in china.
another one of several monuments found in the park. one of the nicer ones in my opinion.
for those of you curious as to what the text on the monument says.
another couple shot in front of the monument. pretty nice one too i must add.
you know a girl loves her flowers when you ask her if she wants to take any more photos before you leave the place and she looks for the nearest flower. actually i think this shot looks really sweet.

and the last picture i took in NY before i left for the day. well there will definitely be more pictures of other parts of new york next time i can promise you that. just need to get there earlier.
